Turf was laid on the day it was delivered and already has visible signs of growth. Thanks to Donna from Green Life Turf for all her help and advice and for her patience in answering all my questions. Also many thanks to the delivery driver who took all the care to drop the turf as close as possible without damaging my driveway. I will certainly recommend Green Life Turf to anyone who asks.
To the team at Green Life Turf. I just wanted to let you know that our recent purchase from you was great. The whole experience from order to delivery was very professional. Equally important, the Sir Walter Buffalo turf supplied was by far the best quality I have ever seen.
Just a quick note to say how delighted we are with our beautiful new Sir Walter Buffalo Lawn. I must say that dealing with your company has been an unexpected pleasure. We really appreciate the drop in call from Michael from Green Life Turf the other day; it's hard to get any better service than that! Frequently Asked Questions
-
Which grass variety is the most shade tolerant?
Sir Walter DNA Certified thrives in Australian conditions, particularly in shaded areas where they can tolerate 50-70 % of shade. This typically translates to about 3-4 hours of direct/dappled sunlight daily.
Other varieties to consider;
- Sir Grange Zoysia - approx 4+ hours of direct/dappled sunlight.
- Zoysia Australis - approx 4+ hours of direct/dappled sunlight.
Both Zoysia grasses take longer to repair themselves if damaged, and in some circumstances Sir Walter DNA Certified may be a better choice.
-
What is the size of a roll of turf?
Each of our turf rolls measures 585mm wide x 1710mm long, covering an area of 1 square meter.
-
What times of the year should I lay my turf? Can I lay new turf any time of the year?
All of our warm season grasses can be laid year-round. In warmer months, it will establish quicker but requires more water. While in cooler months, it will establish slower but requires less water. The only exception to this will be in a real wet area, you may want to delay laying until the warmer months to avoid rotting of the new turf.
-
How soon should I lay my turf once it's delivered?
We suggest laying your new lawn as soon as possible on the day of delivery, especially during the warmer months. Some varieties like TifTuf will go off quicker on a pallet and can have a yellow tinge to the leaves, if left to long on the pallet.
It is also recommended to water it immediately after laying.
-
When should I water my lawn? Is it better to water my lawn in the morning or at night? For newly laid lawns, the critical factor in successful establishment is to prevent the turf rolls from drying out. Watering up to three times a day maybe necessary, depending on the season.
For established lawns, the best time to water is early morning when temperatures are cooler, minimising water evaporation. For specific watering and maintenance guidance, please refer to our varieties page on our website.
