Looking After your TifTuf Bermuda lawn
Watering Guide
TifTuf Bermuda, once established, requires 38% less water than other lawns. It is recommended to water your lawn less frequent but heavy soakings. Generally watering every 1-2 weeks. Only water when grass shows signs of drying out, avoid over-watering in cooler months.
"The deeper the water goes, the deeper the roots grow; and the deeper the roots, the more durable the lawn is."
Mowing
For the best results, mow once a week during the growing season. TifTuf can be cut to a height between 8mm and 36mm. You can choose either a rotary or cylinder mower. For a perfectly manicured look, consider mowing more frequently, perhaps 2-3 times a week, depending on your preference.
"If you're not enthusiastic about mowing but desire a pristine finish, consider using an Auto mower. Pairing TifTuf with an Automow offers a super easy, low-maintenance, high-performance solution.
Fertlising
Fertilise your TifTuf Bermuda grass 1-2 times per year using a blend of liquid and granular fertilizers for optimal growth and health. TifTuf is specifically bred to require less input than other warm-season grasses, it needs less than 1/3 the amount of fertiliser to maintain its healthy growth and appearance. Over-fertilizing can lead to excessive growth and mowing.
We recommend using our blend that we use on our turf farms: Health Booster Lawn & Plant Food Fertiliser.
Pest Control
TifTuf Bermuda is well-suited to manage most pest invasions. Grubs that may impact it include army grubs and lawn grubs. Keep an eye on your lawn and address any pest damage as soon as it appears.
As a preventive measure, we suggest using Grub Guard Ultimate, or for larger lawns, Acelepryn GR, which will provide six months of pest control.
"Those harmful army worm lawn grubs are generally more active in the summer and autumn months."
Weed Control
TifTuf Bermuda turf has a tight growth habit which blocks out most weeds. Monitor your lawn for the first signs of weeds appearing and use an all-purpose weed control like Lawn Solutions All Purpose weed Control.
Alternatively you can use a pre-emergent weed control such as Oxafert, which will give you 3 months' weed control.
"We suggest not to use weed and feed products, if you have a weed problem, control the weeds then fertilise the lawn."
De-thatching & Top Dressing
De-thatching your TifTuf Bermuda lawn is a good idea to help maintain your lawn at a nice neat height.
Top dressing is ideal to help fill in any minor in-perfection of the subsoil resulting in a more smoother and even mow. We would suggest using a good quality Washed River Sand.
De-thatching & Topdressing is what we refer to as a lawn renovation. it is suggest doing at least 1 per year you do a lawn renovation.
"If you find your lawn bumpy when mowing, try top dressing your lawn to help fill in any imperfections and make a smoother mow."

TifTuf Bermuda requires less mowing than most other couch lawns; we recommend once a week during growing season to avoid causing damage each time you mow and leaving you a very sad looking TifTuf lawn. What about weeds? Will my TifTuf need weeding?
TifTuf Bermuda has a dense matt blocking out the sunlight to the soil preventing any weeds from germinating; so it's basically acting as a natural weed matt. However, occasionally you might get a few stubborn weeds pop up and we always recommend keeping an eye out for this and controlling the issue early to avoid lawn invasion especially in Autumn and Winter when your lawn is dormant. Take care of them immediately and you’ll never have a worry!
